Switching gears: Day 1 Phuket Thailand

It looks like we have some unfettered blogging here in Thailand so we will try and get some real time blogs in and, if we are lucky, catch everyone up on the second half of our Australia journey.

We arrived last night into Phuket, about 1 am, after having an hour delay at our stopover in Bangkok.  Other than that the trip was smooth and included one of the better airplane meals in a awhile, thanks to Thai airlines.

We awoke earlier than we planned thanks to someone who couldn't sleep and decided that she needed to look outside the windows to see where we took her.  Of course the rest of the gang was awakened in the process of letting in the bright morning sun.  So after 6 hours of sleep we were ready for what would prove to be a strenuous day by the pool.  The Laguna Beach Resort where we are staying has a great pool area with a water slide.  This created endless hours of fun for the kids.  I think the boys hit the water slide at least 50 times.  Amanda even got up the courage and went down a half a dozen times, of course her daddy was right behind her.  The resort also has unusual residents, unless you are in Thailand, two elephants.  The kids got to see them in the morning and then for a surprise visit in the afternoon as they walked by our lounge chairs on the way to the Andaman Sea for a swim with the guests.  Between all this hard work we managed to squeeze in a stroll down the beautiful white sandy beach which is no more than 20 meters from the edge of the pool area.  Below are some of the pictures captured in our first day here.
