Taking a break!
We needed a vacation from our last vacation so with the Chinese New Year next week once again we are heading out. This time our destination is Phuket, Thailand. Many expats go to this island to relax and enjoy the white sand beaches and warm weather. We intend on doing both. We hope to catch up on our Australia blogging while catching some rays. It has been tough to get much out from here lately and in Thailand we should encounter less blocking. We leave Saturday and get back on Friday morning so should be enough time to get a decent tan (or burn).

Day 6 - Goodbye Sydney...Hello Cairns
On Saturday we headed to Northeastern Australia, flying on Qantas Air into Cairns, pronounced ("Cans"). This is the tropical portion of Australia, right next to the ocean with lots of rainforests and lots of heat and humidity. Snorkeling and diving on the Great Barrier Reef is one of the main attractions in this part of Australia. Our hotel was about 20 minutes from the airport, next to the beach in a beautiful area called Palm Cove. This was one of the few days we had nothing planned so after checking in, we checked out the local shops and did some swimming in the pool at the hotel. Tomorrow is our first day on the Great Barrier Reef!!
