A Princess Bash

As Amanda puts it, "I had a Princess Bash for my 6th birthday!" Trying to plan a Princess bash with no Target, Michael's or even a good party store it tough but somehow (I'll tell you how...with a lot of stress, running around & "creativity") we pulled it off! She invited 10 girls & told them to dress like a 'Princess'. Amanda was dressed as Sleeping Beauty (thanks Dona)! The party was on Friday night at Vizcaya's Ballroom. Mrs. Wang, our Ayi, helped me decorate prior to the party & even ran with me to pick out flowers, last minute, as I felt we needed a bit more pink in the room! We hired someone to draw caricatures of the girls and someone to organize games for the girls. Everyone had a blast! I sighed as the party wrapped up - knowing that she had a good time along with all the other girls was a relief! I never realized how difficult planning a party here would be when you don't have access to things/places you are used to, combined with the fact that Amanda had a specific plan in mind for how she wanted her party!! She even challenged me more as she told me that she didn't want cake, however an ice cream cake would work....great! I was able, painfully though with the very limited Chinese I know & the not-so-good English they know - think charades, to order a Haagen Dazs ice cream cake.....for the low, low price of $70!!! We all REALLY enjoyed & savored every mouthful! I will leave you with a few pictures of the festivities!
P.S. The lady with Amanda is our Ayi, Mrs. Wang - her long overdue debut!!
